This volume attempts to encompass data on 704 threatened animal species, both invertebrates (432 species) and vertebrates (272 species) inhabiting the territory of Bulgaria. The distributional data are given in tabulary form. The natural conservation status of each species according to its presence in the IUCN Red List of Threatened Animals, Bern Convention, Washington Convention (CITIES) and so on. The treatise is a basis for all future decisions in nature management and conservation practices in Bulgaria and Southeastern Europe. The summarized data can be of use to nature conservation organizations, national Red List Commitees, NGO's, and libraries, as well as to anyone interested in the nature protection of the European/Palaearctic animals.
