Thomas Harris was born circa 1796 in Virginia. He married Joanna Terry in 1825 in Pittsylvania County, Virginia. They had moved to Grainger County, Tennessee by 1850. Thomas died circa 1857. They had at least eight children who kept going west, settling in Missouri, Texas, Oklahoma, and on to Colorado and other states.. They were a prolific family. It can be difficult researhing the surname "Harris". In the 1990 census it was the 15th most popular surname in the United States. Records were lost over the decades, and family memories were often forgotten, or distorted. Every effort has been made to provide an accurate account of this line. However, the account an only be as accurate as the records were.
