The following table shows the number of births annually during the last twenty years: The whole number of births in 1877 (still-born included) was a total nearly the same as that of the previous year. The Birth-rate for 1877 was 2409 for every thousand of the estimated population, living births only being included. If the still-births are added, the rate is 2482.
