Excerpt from Thirty-Second Annual Report of the Trustees of the State Lunatic Hospital at Worcester: October, 1864
A paternal care is exercised, by the Superintendent, over patients, even after leaving the hospital. Some have been placed at useful employments in the town, still passing their nights at the hospital until fully able to take care of them selves. All are properly clothed and furnished with necessary funds. A large amount of useful labor is done by the patients, useful chie?y to themselves as a curative means, and which is varied to suit the taste and ability of each.
