Publisher's Synopsis
During World War II there were over 16 million men who served in the United States military. What is often overlooked however is that during that same global conflict over 350,000 American women also answered the call to action. From Minnesota alone there were over 304,000 men and women who served during World War II. The call to service was not ignored by the women of northern Minnesota's Beltrami County. This book contains the histories of those women who served from Beltrami County in northern Minnesota. These brave women served in nearly all positions within the military, from clerical duties, mechanics, pilots, and nurses. Their courage and dedication cannot be underestimated in contributing to the victory of the United States while defending our rights and freedoms as Americans.
