The theory presented here is also a linear one, applicable tosmall values of the electric field, but it is a different lineariza tion than the one adopted by Landshoff and Spitzer et al. Its purpose is to obtain a uniform approximation to the distribution function valid for large velocity as well as small. The extension of these results to larger values of E (i.e. The solution of the nonlinear problem) is being studied.
