Publisher's Synopsis
Excerpt from The Writings of the Late John M. Mason, D. D, Vol. 1 of 4: Consisting of Sermons, Essays, and Miscellanies, Including Essays Already Published in the Christian Magazine, 1832
The Essays upon Episcopacy, commencing the third volume, are already well known. Pre vions to Dr. Mason's decease, he had been free quently solicited by letters from different parts of the United States to permit their republica= tion, and had finally consented; not from any desire to renew that controversy, but because the same high jure divino pretensions, which induced him to write his review, were again preferred, to the disquietude of many distant communities and churches. And as an addi tional reason, the articles reviewed have since been collected and republished. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books.
