Publisher's Synopsis
The following is a portion of the dialogue in the book.
"Think about it. We can't just tell people that following Jesus could mean a lifetime of ridicule and persecution." He put his left hand to his ear and his right hand in front of him as if holding headphones and microphone. Then, he dropped his voice to a lower register to imitate a commentator on a commercial. "Follow Jesus and fill your life with pain, persecution, ridicule, and suffering. You might even lose your friends and family in the process. But wait! That's not all. You might also lose your life just by proclaiming that you follow the King of kings and Lord of lords. Follow Jesus today." The short story is what I envision as how a new church starts. How a group of people who love Jesus of Nazareth seek to honor God with their lives and their new church. The story is merely a conversation between the four main characters. I hope that it rings true. I hope that it gives you a little idea of what following Jesus really means. Spoiler alert: I actually meant to touch more on the costs of discipleship and how the truth Jesus preached would be part of the worst ad campaign ever, but the story changed as I was writing it. I never changed the title though because I like it. And because if you started with Jesus' promise of tribulation for following Him, you really would have the worst ad campaign ever.
