Lake Victoria (the largest lake in Africa); Lake Huron the second largest of the Great Lakes, Lake Michigan; the Aral Sea, next in order, which lies east of the Caspian Sea is shrinking because water from the rivers that feed the lake has been diverted into man-made canals. Lake Tanganika lies at the lower end of East Africa's Great Rift Valley and is home to hippopotamuses, crocodiles and large numbers of water birds. Great Bear Lake is fed by melting snow and is famous for fishing. Just north of Mongolia is Lake Baikal which lies in south-eastern Russia. In the East African Country of Malawi, is Lake Malawi which is fed by 14 rivers and flows to the Indian Ocean.
