I've been Money Grayson for as long as I can remember. It started with singing for my dad's band. "Follow the Money," he'd joke. I guess the name stuck, because that's always what everyone's called me. Except my mother, of course, forever the professional. She was our manager, the head of our wedding company. She was probably the most well-known wedding coordinator on the west coast, and our band the most popular wedding musicians.
But, somewhere amid the applause and compliments from friendly wedding-goers, I began to feel less like a daughter and more like an employee. Being part of the family started to feel like work, with endless performances, practice sessions, singing lessons, and social events. But what could I do? It was my life, and I should have been grateful. I had a large home, fancy clothes, everything I could possibly want. What else could I be missing?
