And, accordingly, this inquiry will consist of four parts. The first will be of measures in general; and particularly of our own and other modern ones, which may be the most helpful to us. The second is to take a view of the Attic measures, for the sake of those Greek authors we are to consult. And the third inspects the Roman, (which could not be so well understood without the Attic, ) for the sake of the Latin writers. And the fourth will consider the Jewish measures themselves. To all which is added an Appendix, concern ing our old English money and measures of content.
