But that we may appreciate the more justly the value of this writer's theological opinions, it is necessary to observe, that, whilst he everywhere a insists on the propriety of con fining the entire range of Christian instruction within the limits of our Lord's discourses, as recorded by the Evange lists, he at the same time very candidly informs us, that some of the grandest and most important tmths of Christianity were not made known to the Apostles until after their Master's death.
