Optatus fights back against such teaching to show what the Bible really says about the saving power of Christ and how the Bible and salvation is to be a world-wide phenomenon. He quotes extensively from Donatist writings so that the reader gets a good idea of what they believed making it a fully arranged and balanced argument against this heretical sect.
