Publisher's Synopsis
"Of the 559 illustrations, most are half–tone drawings of excellent professional quality and realistic 3rd–dimensional effect. The 13 colour plates show the course of the oesophagus in the ox, the course of the intestines in four species, the liver lobule, the paranasal sinuses in 5 species, the thoracic viscera of the ox, the structure of the lung, and the cyclic changes in the bovine ovary...This volume is a necessity to anyone who has a professional interest in the viscera of domestic mammals – the clinician, pathologist, comparative physiologist, and certainly the anatomist." Journal of the American Veterinary Association
According to the German original edition, the English translation of Volume 2 of the anatomical textbook offers a comprehensive modern and equal treatment of dog, cat, pig, cattle, sheep, goat and horse, describing the Body Cavities, Digestive System, Teeth, Spleen Respiratory System, Urinary System and the Male and Female Reproductive Systems. Due to the conception of the entire work as well as in accordance with the nomenclature of "Nomina Anatomic Veterinaria" each organ system is treated first in a general and comparative manner, giving the student a broad view of the subject. This is followed by accounts of the individual systems of the single species, providing the veterinary practitioner and researcher with detailed descriptions.
