This CD-ROM shows the struggle for peace in the 20th century. It is fully illustrated with video, animation, photographs and text, easy to use naviagtion and timelines, index and glossary. The contents are divided into 3 sections. The first, "Struggle for Peace" - follows world developments from before the World War I. It includes an interactive decision making game with multiple choice questions and supporting historical manual. The next section "Societies in Change" - contrasts the fortunes of three countries - Germany, the Soviet Union and the USA. Each country can be studied using a thematic approach that allows the user to compare information about two countries on the screen; The last section "Superpower Relations" follows superpower relations from the end of the World War II to 1995. This includes interactive case studies that allow users to study an event from an east/west standpoint, examine the contemporary views of the time, decide the motives for protagonists, modify these views in the light of more evidence, and finally compare these judgments with how history had judged the protagonists.
