In consequence of this arrangement, the principal duty allotted to me on the present occasion is to glance at the history of practical medicine during the past year, which, if not involving an equal amount of scientific novelty with some other branches of our art, is yet prior to all others in its claim to our interest and attention.
Before, however, proceeding to the immediate business of the Address, I shall venture to solicit the indulgence of the Members to a few preliminary re?ections.
