Publisher's Synopsis
Ms. Nonny Hsueh, Chief Executive Officer of EHGBooks takes into consideration of publishing my 2001 work 'The Theory and Practice of KMT Overseas Policy 1924-1991'. Her recommendation is grounded on its value of record conservation and operational and academic reference. The original was privately published and thus not circulated on any book retailing network. A republication necessitates its outreach with assistance of voluminous circulation. I owe a great debt to Nonny's generosity and I am enthusiastic about its second publication. To the second edition a new essay is added 'The Story of A Chinese Merchant in San Francisco - Striving for Identity1870 1945'. The essay was presented and read at an international symposium under the name of "Overseas Chinese National Identity during Changing Time." The essay was made possible based on 39 original accounting books preserved by the Wong Family. The account was written by thoroughly checking up coupling historic events in the same window of years. The story of an unimportant family is an excellent sample to portrait and illustrate the interaction between Royalists and Nationalists during concluding years of the Ching/Qing Dynasty to the end of Second World War. Late Prof. Chiu Hanping (1904 1990) authored and published in 1936 'Issues of Overseas Chinese ' being a pioneer of the classic field of "Overseas Chinese Studies." Ms. Nonny Hsueh, as the CEO of an electronic publishing house and granddaughter of Pro. Chiu, vows to republish the present work in an effort to preserve books on the overseas Chinese studies. The publishing will make a full stop to the "Overseas Chinese Generations" that is coming to a period one fashion or another.
