The book was written by Mirza Huseyn of Hamadan, an early follower of the Bab and a prominent figure in the Babi community. During the Cambridge scholar Browne's research in Iran he discovered a Babi book in manuscript entitled Tarikh-i-Jadid (The New History). This book, as he later discovered, was written in 1880 by Mirza Husayn of Hamadan with the assistance of several other Baha'i scholars. The New History which was translated and published by Browne was never published by the Baha'is.This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
