We have now come to the end of the first part of the poem: Israel and the Servant. The three strophes, then, express the following principal and secondary thoughts: A. Israel and the Servant. I. The announcement of the Servant. A. His humiliation. 5. His exaltation. II. Israel's incredulity. 4. Because his form and figure were lowly. 5. Therefore he was not accepted. III. Israel's confession. A. He was af?icted, but for us. 6. He brought us peace, but we did not recognize it.
