Excerpt from The Story of Raymond Hill, and Other Poems
Excepting one of the shorter pieces, the first and second parts of the Story of Raymond Hill, were chie?y written sometime earlier than the rest of the volume. This may be a reason why I regard them as the most imperfect portions of it. The other parts were written, partly to finish what was begun, and partly because I saw no reason to distrust the thoughts and feelings with which I began the story.
