Publisher's Synopsis
The headline in the morning edition of the local paper was printed in large, black letters:
LOCAL SURGEON SUED FOR MALPRACTICEThe surgeon was unaware he was being sued until he read it in the paper. Not a very nice way to start the day.
Still, that's how one of the five true malpractice cases presented in this book begins. Each story examines how the defendants-all doctors-responded to the emotional burden of being sued and how their defense attorneys helped them.
To successfully defend a malpractice case, the defense attorney must show the jury the difference between negligence on the part of the physician and what simply is a bad outcome but not the fault of the physician.
