This book though written more than forty years ago in the middle of the author's life has not been published until now-four years after his death. When in 1876 a few copies were printed for private use only, no preface was needed, for it passed straight from the author to his friends and through them to others, with out in any case losing that personal touch with himself which ensured an understanding of his aim in writing it and also of his reason for te training at the time from publishing it.
