This is a study of the work of Bomber Command throughout the six years of World War II. It combines fact and analysis with narrative together with wartime RAF photographs, diagrams and maps. It covers the origins and traditions of the RAF and history of the bomber force before detailing every year of their offensive: the major bombing raids, successes and failures, the development of new tactics and weapons in both the RAF and Luftwaffe arsenal as well as a narrative of the course of the bombing ware. Special date sections are highlighted in the layout and these illustrate all aircraft involved as well as diagrammatic explanations of targeting marking, navigation fighter attacks and electronic warfare to create a study of airpower in action.
