Publisher's Synopsis
The "Sitefile Digest" is a reference to Britain's authorized waste disposal sites. Sections are divided by county or region, and sites are grouped alphabetically by type for ease of use. Each entry provides details of: the category and address of each waste disposal site, along with the National Grid Reference; the person or organization licensed to operate the site; wastes specifically prohibited or approved for handling at the facility; the waste disposal licence reference number; the waste disposal authority which has issued the site licence; and the category of site and classification by waste group that the site is licensed to handle. This edition has been updated to include information on over 1000 new licensed sites.;The digest also provides information on the legal obligations waste producers have under the Duty of Care sections of the Environmental Protection Act, 1990. Each waste producer is now directly responsible for the safe handling and lawful disposal of all their controlled wastes, and this digest should enable businesses to check their disposal options for landfill, incineration, transfer and storage; ensure safe and lawful disposal of waste; and confirm licence status for any waste disposal site.;The information appearing in the digest is compiled from data held on the Sitefile Database, established by Aspinwall & Company, a UK environmental consultancy. Subscribers to the "Sitefile Digest" are entitled to priority searches of the Sitefile Database at a special rate. Subscribers are also sent quarterly updates of information - including changes to licences and operators and openings and closures of sites - as well as quarterly waste management briefing newletters, giving summaries of any new legislative or business events that might affect waste management operations.
