Publisher's Synopsis
This is a fully illustrated collection of seven imaginative, narrative poems, each looking at the darker aspects of human nature. It is also a fun book that reads like a collection of fairytales. It opens with the fantastical claim that the origin of this dark nature lies firmly in the hands of fairies conscripted to please an unidentified demon. The second poem is a piece of political commentary on the fake news, spin and confusion in our current times. It invents a beast to explore how ungrounded confusion takes hold. Other poems are tales of greedy kings, evil queens and bullying ravens (with a clear reference to the style of Poe). Then a poem observes the empty bones of humanity rising to address the only fate we know free from imagination. A short novelty piece completes the collection. In all these dark themes, the book hopes to turn our view towards the contrasting light, though it leaves the control of this to the reader. The collection is densely illustrated by the author in a style reflecting the fairytale nature of the work.
