Publisher's Synopsis

Excerpt from The Selungs of the Mergui Archipelago

Thomas forrest, Senior Captain of the Honourable East India Company's Marine at Fort Marlboro in 1770, and author of A Voyage to New Guinea and the Moluccas, visited the Mergui Archipelago in 1783. Nine years afterwards he published1 the results of his observations, and gave a very good description of the islands so far as they were known to him but the only proof of human inhabitants he saw was a fire which he observed at night on James Island.
