This volume includes forty-four letters addressed to Edith Simcox which show how active and prolific her life was and how influential she was in several aspects of her public life. The contents of each of these forty-four letters to Edith Simcox which were written by some of the leading figures in the history of the nineteenth century and represent each of her major public roles including educational reform, the establishment of trade unions, and writing and publishing. Each letter is presented in the context of the life of Edith Simcox as well as that of the individual(s) who wrote the letter.
