Publisher's Synopsis
This is a story put together with a few tales from the Yukon Territories and British Columbia virgin forests. To people living the cities, it will seem like a legend of days gone by.
The North was a quiet witness to those who are still living the same way today as they did almost a hundred years ago. During my life I spent in the Northwestern regions of Canada, I found man-made shelters - log cabins hidden in the forests. I met loners, outcasts and outsiders who had left civilization to find their peace in the wilderness. I was one of the few who had a chance to learn about the sometime tragic fate of some forgotten and forsaken individuals. I wrote this story down in order to satisfy the curiosity of visitors whom I guided along the Yukon River to Dawson City. I found, they had a genuine interest in the people who were living in the Northwest. I chose the title "The Secret of the Virgin Forests", for in my opinion, it was the most appropriate. The story takes place in the wilderness of the Northwest and a large part in the unresearched and often unknown territory of the human soul. In the case of Tom, one of the main characters of this book, he was the one individual who chose the wilderness over civilization. Vaclav Jim Stastny
