Singing through the space occupied by the dash. In the Te Deum the verse marked with the dagger (bf) may be sung either to the second half of the double chant, or to its first and last sections. The double chants selected for the Te Deum adapt themselves to this latter treatment, which is recommended. The section indicates a change of chant, correspond ing to a change of subject or sentiment.
