Bachelor Thesis from the year 2022 in the subject Theology - Islamic theology, Lagos State University (Arts), course: Islamic Religious Studies, language: English, abstract: House unaffordability has become a serious problem in Nigeria under which Igando, Lagos state falls. With the many literatures available on housing unaffordability, the need to enhance financial services and assistance cannot be underestimated. Although, conventional mortgages are available as major measure and strategy to acquire a home on loan but to no avail is the situation where the interest rate overburdens the needy. This opens the discuss on the role of Muslims and Islam in house acquisition and affordability. This work unveils the existing tools and measures in Islam towards poverty alleviation and further, acquiring a home with ease and comfort. It thus draws a distinction between the conventional loan which entails usury (Riba) and other Islamic financial services which does not accommodate usury.
