Publisher's Synopsis
Excerpt from The Rhythm of Modern Music
IN this book I have endeavoured to deal with the Rhythm of Modern Music in its aesthetic aspect, rather than as an element of formal construction. In the present highly developed condition of musical art, the power of in?uencing the mind through an infinite variety of rhythmical devices in combination with melody is not perhaps generally recognised, and the capabilities of Rhythm, although Well known to composers, are not invariably made full use of by performers, except by those of the first rank, or those who have paid special attention to this element of music.
