The objects of the school were primarily and originally to furnish asylum for mentally defective children, to give them such mental and manual training as they were capable of receiving, and to make them as comfortable and happy throughout life as possible.
The humanitarian motives which led to the organization of this school home for unfortunates found expression in 1906 in the organization of a research laboratory in connection with the Training School, where accurate, comprehensive, scientific study of feeble-mindedness gives promise of invaluable revela tions as to the cause of these defects, their amelioration and the methods of prevention.
