Excerpt from The Records of the Honorable Society of Lincoln's Inn, Vol. 4: The Black Books; From A. D. 1776 to A. D. 1845
His Volume covers the period from January, 1776, to October 3oth, 1845, closing with an account of the visit of the late Queen Victoria and the Prince Consort to Lincoln's Inn on the occasion of the opening of the New Hall. The materials are, as before, the Black Books of the Society, the Red Books and Serle's Court, otherwise New Square, books, which contain orders relating to chambers. A book, containing Resolutions passed by the Bar Messes or the Gentlemen of the Bar, has disappeared. Reference is made to it at pp. 110, III, of the text.
