Edith Lister was A.H. Bullen's secretary at the Shakespeare Head Press, and instrumental in the sale of the press to Basil Blackwell in 1921. Her published works include Dreams in Wartime: A Faithful Record, a dream diary which she kept during WWI, and various poetry collections, the poems of this work, somewhat shadowed by the war, concluding with 'At the Hand Press (The old Compositor speaks)': "I sometimes think / God is a printer too, and sets the type / With men for letters, fixing them in lines / That even He can not keep straight..."
