The treatment herein given has been quite widely used on the railroads of the United States, and many engineers have commended its simplicity, convenience, and ?exibility. The methods and principles are readily taken up by instrument men, and the field work has proved little more difficult than that for circular curves. The use of a regular rate of transition per 100 feet of spiral is advantageous, and the tables are in convenient form.
