Publisher's Synopsis
You have likely heard the famous saying that "it's a man's world" before. It is also very likely that you didn't hear it in a positive light. The reality is that this is fast becoming a statement made to women to keep them from aspiring to be or achieve anything significant in their chosen areas of endeavour.
In some parts of Africa where I grew up, a couple weren't considered to have had any children until they had male kids, even if they had five girls! Then in families where they had both genders, they would usually send only the boys to school. They usually give the excuse that they didn't have the resources to train a girl child who would eventually be married off to someone and end up in the kitchen. Some who had access to a bit more funds would try and send the girls to elementary school or middle school, and that would be it. As far as high school or college is concerned, they feel it's a waste. This "discrimination" to the girl child seems to continue throughout her entire life, as revealed by global statistics showing that women hold just 24% of Senior Leadership positions worldwide. The United States even lags behind the global threshold with women holding just 21% of senior leadership positions. Sadly, the higher up in the corporate ladder we go, the fewer women we have. Yet, this doesn't seem to be in line with God's design for humanity. In His plan for us as revealed through scripture, God says "But you are God's chosen treasure--priests who are kings, a spiritual "nation" set apart as God's devoted ones. He called you out of darkness to experience his marvelous light, and now he claims you as his very own. He did this so that you would broadcast his glorious wonders throughout the world." (1 Pet 2:9 [TPT]) The scripture declares that we have been set apart as God's devoted ones who He called out of darkness into His marvellous light. We are also told that He did this so that we would be qualified to broadcast His glorious wonders all over the earth. Notice however, that the statement of God's original design above is not gender-specific. This is His agenda for every one of His children irrespective of their gender, race or nationality. Both males and females are included in God's plan for a glorious life. That is why the Bible is full of examples of women who lived exceptional lives in their time. So in this book, drawing from the significance of the role of the Queen in the game of chess, I reveal practical steps that anyone can use to live a life that conforms to God's design rather than any social or cultural stereotype.
