Publisher's Synopsis
Excerpt from The Progress of the Age: And the Danger of the Age: Two Lectures Delivered Before the St. Xavier Conference of the St. Vincent De Paul Brotherhood in the Hall of St. Louis University
The present literary compositions form part of a course of lectures delivered during the winter of 1862-63, by some of the Professors of the St. Louis University. The publication of these two lectures has been thought particularly appropriate at this time, both on account of the interesting nature of the subject and the ability with which it is treated, and as a slight tribute to the memory of the author, since deceased.
