Publisher's Synopsis
"The Principles of Composition" is Jon's sixth collection of poems. In it, he explores a variety of unexpected subjects: jumper cables, realtor's houses (they're very messy), ditch digging, street photography, D-Day invasions, fish hatcheries, bridge demolition, muses in public libraries and finishing schools designed for poets, for starters. In addition to these 42 original poems, Jon includes the lyrics from his songwriting phase including "On the Georgia Line" and "What's the Matter with My Metaphor?" and "I Read All About You in Consumer Reports." Covering both comedic ("Helping a Friend Move") and serious ground ("Do You Believe in a Supreme Being?"), Jon's poems are provocative, entertaining and highly-lyrical as they explore spiritual and mundane themes of the early 21st Century. Thankfully, he's keeping his day job.
