Publisher's Synopsis
The conference "Schizophrenia and the Primary Care Team" was sponsored by the Department of Health in collaboration with the Royal College of General Practitioners and Research and Developmet of General Practitioners to give general practitioners and team members an opportunity to discuss the often complex and urgent problems which schizophrenia poses and how these might be best dealt with in primary care settings. This volume, which reflects the content of both the formal presentations and subsequent audience contribution made at the meeting, presents readers with insights into schizophrenia itself: into the effects it has on patients and their families; into what can be done to help them now; and into areas worthy of further study, with emphasis on general practice and other primary care support networks.
