In difcu?ing the fubjeéts of his courfe he pro ceeds very much after the manner in which they are ananged in the Table of Nomenclature agreed upon by the french academtans. In this he has made fome innovations, as the improving and progrefiing condition of fcience feemed to require. The lectures are drawn up and delivered in fuch a manner, that the examination of each particular fub?ance, involves both its natural and chemical hi?ory; a method more per fpicuous and agreeable than the arrangement of them under difi'erent heads. A Syllabus and a Nomenclature have been publilhed by the Profefl'or, for the informa tion of the findents and the public.' As the courfe com prizes not only the clafiification and arrangement of natural bodies, but alfo treats of a great variety of faéts, which form the bafis of fcientific Medicine, rational and experimental Agriculture, and the application of thefe fundamental truths, as principles to explain ufeful Arts and Manufaétures, the importance of the Pro fefibrfhi p will be readily perceived. The doctrines do livered are fubfiantiated by experiments, and the fub jeéts under confideration are elucidated by jpeeimenr.
