Publisher's Synopsis
This study analyzes the relationship between economics and New Right thinking in a political economy perspective. It is divided into three parts; the first part deals with the economic theory of the New Right and considers monetarism, public choice theory, supply side economics, and Hayekian neo-liberalism.;The second part considers the impact of the New Right on the actual economic policies of the UK and USA, and confronts the question of how successful the translation of abstract theory into viable action has been and whether a real economic "revolution" has occured.;The third part assesses the consequences and implications of New Right political economy and asks, what is the future agenda for economic policy if the New Right is a "spent force"?
