For lack of this traditional medium of expression non-catholic mystics have often been driven to speak in idioms peculiar to themselves and difficult to interpret. Bohme was compelled to adopt the terminology of alchemy, which has involved his doctrine in a very considerable and quite unnecessary obscurity. Blake, by employing a language altogether his own, has rendered his message well-nigh unintelligible. Moreover, Catholic doctrine has shown the application of the data of mystical experience in wider spheres than that experience could of itself attain. Thus both theologies are confirmed by their mutual harmony.
