Ancient translations of the Old Testament were often made at a date earlier than that of the oldest surviving manuscripts of the original Hebrew text. They thus serve as a parallel witness to the text. This study examines the transmission of the ancient Syriac Peshitta translation of the 12 prophets (Hosea to Malachi) and evaluates the translation in relation to the Hebrew original and other ancient translations.
