Publisher's Synopsis
The very idea of living solely to meet his own desires and needs was totally unknown to Petrovich. His life had ever been dedicated to the will of the Gods. A warrior monk with superhuman strength and agility but who is unable to fully access his own emotions, Petrovich has always believed he would one day become a Temple Sarama of the small mountain village where he was raised. Now that the Grand Temple Masters seem to have completely dismissed him from the order, it falls to him to find a new path worthy of his training and skills, without ever breaking his oath to never reveal who or what he truly is. When he discovers Raphenia, a plucky and cunning noblewoman abandoned by her charge in the woods beyond his village, he concludes that assisting her in a dangerous cross-country journey to reach her native homeland is the path his gods truly intend for him. However, it is not long before he discovers that she has a secret of her own; one that will set an entire kingdom and all of its political allies against them. Together, the two outsiders must learn to trust and rely upon each other if they are ever to win in their desperate bid to reach the ports without being captured, killed, or inadvertently starting a war.
