This reference work assesses and discusses the geopolitics of Brazil. As the fifth largest nation in the world, Brazil is the largest country in South America, with a 7,400 km coastline along the Atlantic Ocean . According to IMF's estimates, Brazil is expected to continue being the tenth biggest economy in 2023 with a projected GDP of $2,081billion for the year.
The work is divided into four parts: (1) The Making of Brazil as an International Actor; (2) Geo-Economics and Technology; (3) Classic Perspectives on Geopolitics; (4) Contemporary Debates: Critical and Meta Geopolitics. In doing so, the book brings together multiple topics related to Brazil, and middle and south Atlantic. In addition to some traditional topics such as Brazilian politics, Brazilian economy, and Brazilian foreign policy, contributions in the book pays more attention to popular topics related to economic society, regional development, and international cooperation in recent years, such as energy geopolitics, defence, nuclear autonomy, marine spatial and naval projects, food security, Artificial Intelligence. While discussing Brazilian relations with China and US, the book also explores relations between Brazil and Africa (e.g., Angola, Mozambique, Cabo Verde, Nigeria, South Africa), Russia, and the European Union. Other regional or global topics, such as BRICS, BRICS+, UNSC reform, are also explored in this book.
