Publisher's Synopsis
In 1889, citizens of London are terrorized by a tall, ghostly apparition. Women all across London are frightened, and some refuse to leave their houses when it is reported that Spring-heeled Jack jumped from a building and grabbed a young woman. After scratching the sleeves of her dress, he blew gigantic blue flames of fire from his mouth and ran away.
Newspaper reports detailing several more attacks prompt Doctor Pendergrass to start his own investigation. When Saint Bartholomew's Hospital is covered in graffiti, Pendergrass deciphers the words and symbols to discover Jack is targeting one of ten nurses that meet his profile. Investigations lead to only one conclusion about Spring-heeled Jack's past and his intentions. Knowing he has little time to act, Doctor Pendergrass must devise a plan to catch Spring-heeled Jack before it is too late.
