Publisher's Synopsis
The Objective Fool is a psychological memoir written by a man whose mind is set loose from reason. A mind whose experiences are skewed by the irrational disturbances of both auditory and visual hallucinations. Through illustrations, and the written word, I have attempted to elucidate the feelings of fear, despair, frustration, and hope that are associated with my particular condition. This book is a testament to my lived experience and it covers a multitude of difficult topics that carry with them equally potent stigmas which I hope that I can help to change. Such topics as the hallucinations themselves, attempted suicides, and drug and video game addictions to name only a few. There are also sections of this book that touch upon religion and the structure of some of my informal beliefs, as well as the birth of my son and the litany of troubles that I had cast upon myself whilst learning to navigate a broken family structure. There is also a chapter dedicated to the part of my life when an ex-girlfriend had attempted to murder my entire immediate family as well as myself.
"We all experience the world that is around us in different ways than one another. None of us sense the entirety of everything that is, even in our very local space of self. Because of this we are unable to experience the full spectrum of our existing universe, and for that matter, what the universe is experiencing in us." - The Objective Fool My hope is that through the sharing of my life and experiences that an understanding may be borne from my disclosure. An understanding that may broaden the collective human will to higher forms of empathy, compassion, and acceptance.
