Publisher's Synopsis
The book aims at presenting the main characteristics of the labour relations systems in the Nordic countries (except Iceland). Labour union movement has a great impact on these systems due to high rates of affiliation percentage among workers (more than 80% in Denmark, Finland and Sweden). The regulation therefore relies heavily on collective bargaining and well functioning union representatives on the local level. - - By comparing the regulation in the different Nordic countries regarding important issues, the book presents new aspects on the Nordic model for labour relations. These features are also discussed in a comparative European perspective and the last chapter specially deals with the adjustments which will have to be made when the Nordic Model is confronted with the EC-regulation, as a consequence of European integration.
