This work is the companion volume to The New Constitutional and Administrative Law, Volume 1: Constitutional Law. Volume 2: Administrative Law takes account of the dramatic changes in the field since the enactment of the new Constitution and provides a complete overview of South African administrative law with special emphasis on judicial review. It takes full account of all the various elements of the new administrative law: the common law, the Constitution and the Promotion of Administrative Justice Act 3 of 2000. Administrative law is to a large extent dependent upon the constitutional law that precedes it both logically and historically. This volume thus depends to a considerable extent on the foundation built in Volume 1, and frequent reference has been made to fundamentals dealt with in that volume.The book is written with a view to making a complex and sometimes daunting subject accessible to the reader, but without undue simplification. Though intended to serve mainly as students' text, the book's comprehensiveness and clarity will make it indispensable for practitioners of administrative law.
