Publisher's Synopsis

This report is part of the National Diet and Nutrition Survey (NDNS) programme which aims to provide a comprehensive cross-sectional picture of the dietary habits and the nutritional status of the British population. This report, the third in the series, covers intakes of vitamins and minerals by a national sample of adults aged 19 to 64 years living in private households, and was carried out between July 2000 and June 2001. Chapters look at average daily intakes of vitamins and minerals from food sources alone and from all sources, including dietary supplements. Actual intakes are compared to UK dietary reference values, where appropriate. It also contains findings for urinary analytes, the analysis of the 24-hour urine collection, used to assess sodium intake. Results are broken down by age, sex, region and household receipt of benefits.
